The Nissan LEAF is Nissan’s compact electric car. Affordable and fun to drive, it is no mystery why so many people are hunting for a Nissan LEAF for sale. EVs are becoming real contenders in the automotive marketplace, and cars like the LEAF are making a strong argument for their potential dominance. From the very comfortable and high-tech interior to the powerful motor and quick acceleration, these cars are as fun to drive as they are comfortable, all while producing zero emissions.

If you’re worried about finding a charging station, you’ll find Canada has tens of thousands of public charging stations nationwide, giving EV drivers easy and ready access to replenish their power reserves. Many chargers are free to use and you can even charge the LEAF using a standard 120-volt outlet in any home. Pretty awesome, isn’t it? Able to recharge to 80% in as little as 40 minutes with DC Fast Charging, you won't have to wait for long to get back on the road again.

Nationwide Charging Stations

A major concern for drivers wanting to make the switch to electric cars is finding chargers for their vehicles. The good news is this isn't as much of a hassle as you might think. The LEAF is compatible with several types of chargers, including Level 1, Level 2, and DC quick chargers. Canada has over 16,500 Level 2 chargers and over 3,800 DC quick charge stations across the country and more chargers are being installed every day.

Level 2 chargers utilize 240-volt power and can be installed in your home, allowing for easy overnight charging to ensure your LEAF is always topped off and ready to go. These chargers do take longer to top off the battery than DC quick chargers––up to 11.5 hours for the 60 kWh battery option in the LEAF––but since almost everyone is home for at least 12 hours a day, a Level 2 home charger makes it easy to stay on top of things. However, even though a Level 2 charger is recommended over a 120-volt Level 1 charger, you can use any standard outlet to charge the LEAF.

When you need a quick charge, you’ll want to find an aptly named DC quick charge station. These public chargers range in power up to 100 kW and can charge the 40 kWh battery in the LEAF up to 80% in 40 minutes or the 60 kWh battery to 80% in 45 minutes. These chargers are especially important for long-distance driving since, while the range of the LEAF is substantial, it is not enough for every trip. Thankfully, quick charging is a great feature of the LEAF and makes many Canadian long-distance road trips feasible.

Enjoy the Quiet Tranquility of the LEAF

When you’ve grown up around gas-powered vehicles your whole life, you come to expect a loud engine noise when you turn the car on. One common observation people make when they turn on an electric vehicle for the first time is, “Wait, is the engine on?” Well, no, it doesn’t have an engine, but it is on. This is because the whole system is electric and, therefore, very quiet. Combined with the great sound dampening, this lack of engine noise provides a driving experience which is luxuriously quiet. You know when a fan is on, and you only notice how loud it is once it has shut off? Driving the Nissan LEAF for the first time feels like that.

The interior of the LEAF also has many high-tech and comfortable features that make it fun to drive or ride in. There are five seats, giving you enough room for most applications and a decent amount of cargo space, even with the rear seats upright. The rear seats can also be folded down to expand the rear cargo area. The 60/40-split design allows LEAF owners to customize the amount of cargo and seating space to accommodate extra passengers while still maximizing cargo space. Nissan also has an available cargo organizer and cargo cover to make the most use of the space.

No electric car is complete without high-tech displays and excellent connectivity. The Nissan LEAF comes with a 20 cm infotainment display that includes built-in navigation and connectivity for both Apple and Android devices. You can easily connect to either type of phone with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto functionality, ensuring that your media is ready at hand. The LEAF includes both a USB-A and USB-C port, so all your accessories can be easily charged or connected to the car.

Powerful Performance From an EV

The LEAF comes with two battery options so buyers can choose the battery that best fits their needs. There is a 40 kWh battery that provides 240 km of estimated range and 147 hp and a 60 kWh battery with 342 km of range and 214 hp. One of the best parts of electric vehicles for sale like the LEAF is their quick acceleration. Unlike gas engines, which only have their best torque at certain engine speeds, the electric motor of the Nissan LEAF has 100% of its torque instantly. This means it has incredible handling and is quick to start off the line.

One more feature which is unique to EVs is the Nissan e-Pedal, which makes use of the electric powertrain of the car to both accelerate and decelerate with a single pedal. This is achieved by pushing the pedal down when you want to go faster and releasing the pedal when you want to slow down. Not perfect for every situation, but for most casual driving trips, the e-Pedal works great. A brake pedal is still included for quicker stops and emergency stops. Not sure if you’ll like the feel of it? Come on by to see and take the LEAF for a test drive.
